Day 4 - Cooinda

Well... what a long exhausting day.  But a great one.

Picked up at 7:30am for our 4wd tour to Twin and Jim Jim Falls.  (Returned at 6pm)

Definate high clearance 4wd country.. enjoyed the bouncing and creeks but not the corrugations.

Once at Twin Falls there was discussion from our French Guide, Jane, about which walk to do.. the easy to the bottom of the falls (no swimming due crocodile) or the more adventurous to the top (swimming allowed).  The group asked advice about how hard it might be, Jane (Tarzan's wife obviously) said not too hard a little steep to start about 30m....... well if you know how the Kings Canyon Loop is then you have some idea of what this walk was like (not as steep but not Tracey's chosen environment - or mine for that matter).  We got out of the 4wd truck and looked up and up but (wrongly) assumed we would not be climbing this escarpment above as this was obviously not 30m and would be hard.

Well after some frustration in the 30 degree heat climbing and then walking along the top, we reached some great views and a well deserved dip in the water...          yes, we had to return the way we came!!

Lunch on a creek bank (away from the waters edge), then on to Jim Jim Falls.  Yes another tiring walk over boulders along the river edge but the final view was well worth this trek.

Back in the van (AC on) and relaxing... early start tomorrow - Sunrise cruise on Yellow Water.

NB: Our first sighting of wildlife up here......

Talk soon..
