Sunday 25th July Sunrise departure form our roadside stop near Port Hedland, as we want to ensure a site at Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park (First in basis).    Through Port Hedland where Kate and Paul will spend the next couple of days to get their Air conditioner repaired… it is needed up here!       Then into the Caravan Park at Eighty Mile Beach, where we were lucky to score a powered site – just makes it easier and we can put on the caravan air conditioner.                                 Monday 26th July A day to wander along the beach.  Unfortunately (or fortunately for us), Kate and Paul’s car will not be ready today so we have to spend tomorrow here as well.  So after our walk we spent some time on the van = like checking over the brakes, fixing the toilet door, rinsing  off some of the red dirt as well as the normal washing and cleaning up of the van… ready for the thrust home.     At the end of th

Thursday 22nd July Starting some long days of travel.           Friday 23rd July On the road again…  unfortunately we need to keep moving.  We are a little apprehensive of the COVID situation on the east coast and if it jumps to WA we may not get home without hotel quarantine so we are trying to get to at least NT as soon as possible, at least one state away from home we might stand a chance if things go pear shaped across the country.           Saturday 24th July Long travel day today, but quite dramatic scenery as we drive through the Pilbara region.       Pilbara Scenery     Peaceful road side stopover.

How things can change.  As we neared the end of the longest straight in Australia, we were getting news reports that the whole of South Australia was going into lock down and we were only a couple of hours away from crossing the WA border into SA.  So roadhouse discussion and checking news updates and deciding what options we had. - Continue into SA and abide by the lock down requirement coming into force later today.  Knowing in all likelihood QLD will label SA a hotspot and thus we would require 14 day hotel quarantine on our return. - Wait out the 7 day lock down  (hoping it is not extended or that no other problems arise in NSW etc.) in the hope all is good and Queensland drop the “Hotspot” tag soon after otherwise we woul
