Sat 30th August Bedourie - Urandangi

Day 13

Now today we planned a long day (almost 500km’s) to Urandangi, so early last night, Tracey and Kate came to the conclusion that Paul and I would not be driving in the morning…  a very responsible, and as it turned out, accurate decision.

So we set off around 9:00 up the road again, as far as the roadhouse for some of us to have bacon & egg rolls.  Some of us chose to snooze in the car whilst this occurred.  Outback time – 30 minutes to cook the Bacon & egg rolls.  then onwards.

In the afternoon we drove through Dajarra (very tiny fuel stop & homestead) which Kate informed us was once the biggest Cattle shipping depot in the world.  Prior to road trains, drovers would bring cattle from all over NT and QLD to the rail head here.

Then back onto some gravel roads, occasional animals, then to Urandangi Pub – no meals available and we must admit, felt like the end of the world here.  Nothing out here.

Adding to the feel of the end of the world, we have Santa’s mailbox ???

After the customary drink at the pub to satisfy the Pub book rules we stipulated we went down to the local dry river bed for camp and a fantastic Beef roast, with a full roast Pumpkin and potatoes cooked in the campfire.
