Tue 22nd – 24th February 2022. Yeppoon & Great Keppel Island
Tuesday 22nd February
Departed the wonderful Notch Point, not sure where to go. Based on the weather being warm and Tracey wanting somewhere we could swim, along with the need to fill/empty the van, we took to Wikicamps to find a suitable destination for the evening. Unfortunately nothing grabbed our attention other than returning to Yeppoon (fantastic swimming lagoon on the waterfront) and staying at the Beachside Caravan Park. So decided to return to Yeppoon, quick call to the caravan park (lucky we did as we secured the last waterfront site) and the plan was set.
Arrived into Yeppoon mid afternoon and after setting up and a few loads of washing we ventured again to the waterfront swimming lagoon.
Dinner at one of the local restaurants.
Wednesday 23rd February
Chores today… tank fill, groceries, tidying, relaxing. Monitoring the situation in SE QLD, to map our return journey. Looks like returning via the coast along the Bruce Highway may be problematic. Thinking of travelling inland.
Also the wind has dropped and looks to remain so for a couple of days, so we checked with the van park if we could stay a day longer and then booked a trip out to Great Keppel Island for Thursday.
After all this hard decision making work, again down to the swimming lagoon for a few hours. A nice walk into town for a Thai dinner.
Thursday 24th February – Great Keppel Island
Up early (or at least early for us) to collect the caravan park bus to the marina.
Then onto the ferry to Great Keppel Island.
Once there our first adventure was a glass bottom boat ride.

That was to be the end of our planned adventures for the day, with the rest of our time lazing on the beach. But there were only two couples (our age) continuing on with the “Adventure” package which included lunch, snorkelling and boom netting, so we opted to upgrade to this package. And it was a fantastic choice.
Lazing in the ocean (no crocodiles wander this far out from the main land – apparently!!).
The after some lunch on the boat, preparing for snorkelling – stinger suits as required by the skipper, just in case.
Then some fun on the net…

Then returning home, after a fabulous and busy day!!
After an exhausting day out on the water, what better dinner could there be - fish and chips!
