Fri 22nd August The Dig Tree – Coongie Lakes

Day 5

Absolutely quiet night down on the river bank.

Up to have a look at the story of Burke & Wills again and view the dig tree and carvings.

 

   

Then on to Innamincka in South Australia, for some brunch in the pub and a shower… $2 gets you a 3 minute shower in the local shower block at Innamincka.  Should have topped up at Noccundra at $1.97 as Innamincka is $2.07.

   

Then along the winding track to the edge of Coongie lakes, meeting some interesting animals and travellers along the way.

    

But arriving at the lakes made it worth while, huge lake, birds a plenty just a relaxing place.  Here for 2 nights so plan a walk tomorrow. 

     

Chilli con carne dinner served by Paul. Followed by a starry night – no fire tonight but temperature only down to 13 degrees by bed time.
