Fri 4th–Mon 7th June. Kalgoorlie-Karalee Rock-Wave Rock-Kulin-Freemantle
Shortish drive today arriving at Karalee Rock and dam around lunchtime. With a walk over the rock after lunch to view the engineering feat from a hundred years ago. To help sustain the building work on the railway in the 1890’s they managed to build 6 km’s of wall around the base of the large rock to divert all the water falling on to the rock to a single point then aqueduct it into a dam. This was amazing to see and feel a part of the ingenuity of the 1890’s.Friday 4th June
Saturday 5th June
Earlier start today as we wanted to end up at Wave Rock around lunchtime to have a look over it. Lucky we booked caravan sites as we were unaware that it was a long weekend for WA.
Hippo Rock…
Then Roast for dinner with Tracey’s best ever Pineapple Upside down cake for desert.
Sunday 6th June
Headed off today for our first wine tasting on the trip at Lake Grace… but it was closed for a function. So we took a look at Lake Grace itself and then up towards Kulin and along the “Tin Horse Highway”. There are bush races here every year and I suspect part of their appeal is the increasing amount of “Tin Horses” placed along the highway.
As it took us well over an hour to travel the 15km’s of the Tin Horse Highway we decided to stay at Kulin. What a fantastic little pub and town.
Monday 7th June
Another walk on a granite rock as we stopped for brunch.
Corrigin holds the world record for dogs in ute’s (1527 set in 2002). Also we visit the dog cemetery just outside town.
And we finally arrive into Fremantle for our stay for about a week to tour Perth and Fremantle.
