Mon 14th–Sat 19th June. Fremantle-Bunbury-Busselton
Monday 14th June
Departing Fremantle, short diversion to visit the Thrombolites. Millions of years ago these were the main source of oxygen for the planets development. Strange things… there are only a few places in the world you can see these.
“Thrombolites look like rocks but are ancient forms of microbial communities that photosynthesize (produce energy from sunlight). They obtain calcium carbonate from the water to form these structures that are about 2000 years old.”
Then set up camp at an interesting offbeat farm camp. With his own airstrip and DC3 as a garden ornament.
Tuesday 15th June
Departed for Busselton in the morning but only got as far as Bunbury, 30km’s away. As we drove through Bunbury and along its coastline it felt like a fantastic place to spend some more time. So after a short discussion we chose to stay here for the night and spend the afternoon looking over this place. From an intriguing lighthouse and spectacular coastline.
Wednesday 16th June
A drive through the Tuart Forest and setting ourselves up at the Vasse Lawn Farm for a few days.
Visiting the famous 1.86km Busselton Jetty and underwater observatory.
Thursday 17th June

Blackhurst Park ….
Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse.
Sugarloaf Rock…
Friday 18th June
It was such a beautiful day today and we needed a rest day so we just relaxed at our grassy camp. And watched the sun set across the paddocks.
Saturday 19th June
Amazing sunrise
Then a day trip starting at Ngilgi Cave.
The some scenery along the coast .
Canal rocks…
Then our first winery, visiting Clairault for a sit down tasting followed by lunch. Food (and wine) was fantastic.
