Mon 17th - Wed 19th May. Mildura
Monday 17th May
On our way again, in Mildura around lunch time. Some shopping and into the waterfront caravan park for a few days. Meeting up with our Kate and Paul our travelling companions for the next few months. Dinner at one of the many local restaurants, Mildura is quite a big place.
A quick night time photo from our waterfront camp site looking across the Murray River to Victoria.
Tuesday 18th May
Up, not so early… some tidying up and washing etc.
After lunch we were picked up for a tour to Mungo National Park. World Heritage site due its significance for aboriginal history.. The Mungo Lady and Mungo Man’s remains were found here, dating back to over 27000 years ago. The large Mungo Lake which has not had water in it for over 18000 years is able to give an insight into aboriginal life thousands of years ago.
The Walls of China is a fantastic sight, formed at the edge of the Lake Mungo by winds blowing the bed of the lake for thousands of years forming these so called walls.
Wednesday 19th May
Time for a river cruise on the Murray river in a paddle boat…
Looking back at our campsite on the rivers edge…
Through one of the Locks….
Then back to the campsite for relaxing around the campfire and roast belly pork.
