Sun 13th & Mon 14th November – Victoria High Country
Day 16
Mornington to Woods Point.
After a woeful evening as the wind sprang up and consistently sat at over 60 km/hr for the whole night. We moved campsites away from the waters edge to find some protection but little helped.
Not much sleep with the tent flapping and being battered all night. Of course it also started to rain around 6am so we had to pack up in very windy and wet conditions… not the best camping experience.
So we now travelled towards the high country, first night at a river side campsite at Woods Point… yes it remained drizzling off and on all day.
Set up next to the river, it later rained so spent the evening playing canasta inside Kate & Paul’s foxwing awning with zippered sides, best thing in wet weather.
Day 17
Woods Point to Licola
Again packed up in the rain, hopes for anything better today weren’t high. Further into the High Country, up Mt Selma and through what would have been some fantastic views but for the lack of vision.
Then a break in the clouds as we approached Licola (the only privately owned town in Victoria – owned by the Lions club, they run a large Youth Camp in the old Sawmill premises).
Because of the previous 2 nights packing up in the rain we chose to grab the sunshine and setup camp early today at Licola. Lovely grassy spot on, again on a river.
