Tue 1st & Wed 2nd November – Melbourne Cup & surrounds

 

Day 4

Melbourne Cup day.  Up to get ready then onto the shuttle from our cabin and met some friends at the track… only 97000 people so not surprising to meet someone we know from Brisbane!!!

   

 

  

   

We had a wonderful day, in the kitty funds we picked up 1st and 2nd in the Melbourne Cup… great effort unfortunately it was not enough to cover our losses for the rest of the day… anyhow we supported the bookies well.

   

Day 5

Another night luxuriating in the cabin then off into Melbourne City for a bit sightseeing.  Visiting some of the laneways and spectacular arcades.

         

After standing on the side of he road for 5 minutes deciding where to go for an old fashioned lunchtime beer, we finally noticed directly across the road a basement bar.  So a quick drink at the Millhouse… interesting roof linings in the Ladies & Gents.

                                          

Then a visit to the Melbourne Gaol and out to dinner in Lygon Street at Papa Gino’s with Linda & Titus and Debbie & Enes.
