Day 3 Cooper Creek – Birdsville.. Longreach

Departing our lovely Creek side campsite, unfortunately the Patrol not running well..  not leaving us in a comfortable mood heading for the Simpson Desert.  So into Windorah and see the mechanic? Mechanic in Toowoomba, no-one else to help, so we ring RACQ – mainly to get details of who we could phone.  But surprisingly were told the RACQ would be there within the hour.

Windorah is a town the size of one block and hundreds of km’s from anywhere so we were a bit sceptical.  After an hour and a half, called the RACQ back – yes they were still coming when asked from where advised “Stonehenge” (170km’s away). We went into the information centre and met Margaret a local lady, she made us a coffee and told us a little about Windorah. We did the The Windorah walk around which took us all of half an hour, while Glenn waited by the car. We finally set up seats by the road and did the Quiz 24/40 - Average…..  Finally the local mechanic (the one from Toowoomba?) arrives from the Cooper Creek Fishing competition just up the road, resets the warning light says she’ll be right.  Not convinced/comfortable we head towards Longreach instead of Birdsville. Firstly we stayed and had lunch at the Windorah Pub….Such a friendly, LAYED BACK town!

Windorah does put our solar system to shame though.
