Day 8 Sat Ruby Gap (East Macdonnell Ranges) – Glen Helen Resort (West Macdonnell Ranges
Up and away about 9:00 again and the morning light making the ranges a spectacular sight. Something we didn’t see yesterday as there was a lot of cloud cover and we were too tired at the end of the day.
But here are a few of the pictures Tracey managed to snap.
We stopped at Emily Gorge for a quick look.
Then into Alice Springs for supplies… unable to buy the cask wine until after 6pm due NT alcohol restrictions, so vodka and bourban cans instead! (Bottles of wine don’t survive on the dirt roads.)
After stocking up we went straight to Glen Helen Resort campground and set up… showered and down to a Restaurant meal – very nice. Then listening to live music from a very capable musician (Guitar, Banjo, Fiddle, Spoons) – Chris Aronsten. This is the same musician that Kate and Paul enjoyed so much last time they visited 4 years ago, they stayed afterwards and chatted (drank) with Chris for a while. I hear Paul even strummed a few tunes on the Guitar.
Late to bed but with a no travelling day tomorrow – who cares.
Great night, nice food, nice music and no specific time to get up…… fantastic.
Sounds pretty good to me Glen....and of course, nice people to share it with.
