Sun 26th - Thu 30th August - Kununurra - Gregory Downs

Day 42 (Sun 26/8/18)   Kununurra - Jaspers Gorge

After a few days in an apartment away from the dirt and dust it was with mixed feelings leaving this morning.  But we can’t stay forever.  Onto the bitumen until later today, passing Victoria River and some back burning?

  

  

Then a little scare with the radiator!!  Only to find it was the water tank filler hose, the cap was not fitted properly so taped it up and kept going, we have plenty of other drinking water.  Passing through the edge of Gregory National Park and on to Jasper Gorge our planned camping spot this evening.

  

  

  

  

  

Then just after sunset, the full moon rises…

  

  

Day 43 (Mon 27/8/18)   Jaspers Gorge - Daly Waters

Arriving at a wonderful breakfast stop, shame we already stopped for breakfast.

  

  

Then waiting for the drovers to push the cows aside, before waiting at the Ghan railway line for the lunchtime train… which never arrived.

  

  

And at Daly Waters Pub overnight. 

  

Afternoon in the pool drinking through happy hour and then a great meal.  Followed by dancing, who said the grey nomads don’t party.

  

Day 44 (Tue 28/8/18)   Daly Waters - Devils Marbles

Basically just a travel day today after a few photos around Daly Waters.  Then at our campsite for the evening, Devils Marbles Hotel.  With some lovely grass to lie in the sun on…  amazing how much green grass becomes a luxury.

  

  

Day 45 (Wed 29/8/18)   Devils Marbles - Roadside Rest Stop (East of Barkley Roadhouse)

Leaving the Devils Marbles Hotel, first stop Wycliffe Well and the UFO centre of Australia… as Paul said only in Australia could this be added to a map.

  

Then back up the road to The Devils Marbles, much more worthy of a place on the map.

  

  

  

Then into Tennant Creek to sort out an issue with the joint Load&Go card… 2 hours later all sorted.

Then long bitumen straights, actually quite boring compared to what we have seen but looking forward to Lawn Hill in a couple of days.

Then into a side of the road rest stop, not very nice.

Day 46 (Thu 30/8/18)   Rest stop - Gregory Downs

Again just a travel day.

Crossing the NT/QLD border - we’re home.

Then a quick look at the Gregory River near Gregory Downs Hotel, our campsite for the evening.  Pub meal followed by darts.

  

                 

Tomorrow we head into Lawn Hill for 4 nights.
