Day 38, 39 & 40

After relaxing in the warm springs yesterday afternoon, followed by happy hour at the shed, then “provide a plate” to share; we enjoyed a meal put on by the property owner.  Lorella meat of course, apparently when he gets the urge every couple of weeks he does this to bring about a social atmosphere to get people talking about where to go on the property – great marketing ploy.  He won’t even take money from us until we leave as almost everyone stays longer than planned – just like us.

So after deciding to stay here a couple of days, we headed for Rosie Creek Fishing camp, lunching at some waterholes on the way.

Then to the serious fishing business,

“Unfortunately” this was a camper from down the road.  He had no luck, like us, yesterday.  So he came to check our spot and landed a 96cm Queenfish.  This also led to a many sightings and Tracey hooked a couple of times but just didn’t land one.

After persevering for most of the day I finally gave up and headed back up to play canasta, but Paul had left his rod on the bank so whilst walking past I thought I might as well try with his rod…  Finally managed to hook and land one…

Which brought all the players back down, Paul hooked one but his tackle wasn’t up to the challenge…

I then got another one…  but not enough for a meal so the plan is to get a big one tomorrow!!

But no luck at all!!!

Heading back to the main camp via the 40 degree “Nudie Springs”.

Then a perfect birthday menu for Kate:

Fresh caught Queenfish in dijon mustard and garlic white sauce, served on a bed of rice.

Rosemary and mint infused lamb with fire baked potatoes lavished with sour cream and seasonal vegetables.

Pineapple upside down cake served with creme anglaise (vanilla custard).

All served with specially selected white and red wines (ie. any we had left).
