Wed 11 – Fri 13 July Middle Lagoon – Big Horse Creek, Victoria River
Day 33, 34, & 35
11/7
Officially now on the way home!!!! Travelling via the Savannah Way.
Departed Middle Lagoon (Tracey’s favourite spot), checked out Cape Leveque Resort and Lombadina Beach for breakfast.
Then travelled through to Fitzroy Crossing, staying at the Fitzroy River Lodge caravan park. We were here exactly one week ago! Happy just to setup, grab a beer/wine, cook some pasta carbonara and play a few hands of canasta. So didn’t bother with any photos.
12/7
Out of Fitzroy Crossing early but after over 6000km’s of dirt, corrugated, rocky roads we finally get a puncture on a bitumen road!! Go figure… having to move off the highway for a 6.5m wide load we managed to find debris from someone else’s problem…
Leaving a rather distinctive hole in our left front tyre. At least the bright side is that it hadn’t fallen from our car.
Into Kununurra for the evening, The girls have booked a “bubbles and bubbles” night. ie. As we have the cars booked in for a service in the morning at 7am we decided to book a unit, one with a spa and with a bottle of sparkling…”bubbles and bubbles”.
13/7
What an enjoyable time, all soaked and softened from the spa bath and the ability to spread out a little, relaxed and refreshed.
OK! Cars serviced, tyre repaired, clothes washed, groceries & alcohol stocked up and on the move again by lunch time!!! Not bad for little effort. Although lunch on the side of the road did bring out some strange behaviour…. Kate checking if any other cars are coming??
And some type of happy dance!
But I guess the heat (finally have some) has got to all of us…
And Paul starting the blue rinse brigade…
Campsite tonight at Big Horse Creek, along the Victoria River.
Tomorrow on to Bitter Springs, Mataranka.
Having a great time, a shame we are on the way home.
