Sharing a cabin for the 3 nights, allows us to spread out and relax.

Lunch, surprisingly enough in this place, was fish and chips.

Now the tavern shuts tonight, along with all other shops, at 5pm as the the school fete is on!!  So we plan on cooking a prawn pasta, purchased some prawns in the prawn capital.

Then the lovely sunset…

Now back at the campsite, we wandered over to the fish cleaning tables to see how its done.  After a chat for a while we end up bringing back a fair amount of filleted queenfish – now our prawn pasta will be a seafood pasta.

And enjoyable it was…

22/7

Up to the local markets this morning then breakfast at the Sunset Tavern overlooking the Gulf.

Tracey, Paul and I went on a fishing charter this afternoon.  Catching school (doggy) Mackerel and having some fun.  Some great photos of the huge fish we were catching, but… whilst Tracey taking photos on behalf of another passenger her reel went off with a fish, in the act of getting to the huge fish she watched her camera come loose and sail overboard.   Yes the new camera she got in Kununurra.  Even though the camera is an underwater one it doesn’t float.  Now we are not in a swim friendly area, gropers, crocodiles and sharks all about so no one was keen on taking a dip to attempt to retrieve it.   End result no photos ---  and they were huge fish!!!

Actually when back on shore we got some photos with Kate’s camera.

Filleting 18 mackerels to bring home was a bit of a chore but we had already put Paul’s fridge onto freezer just in case. So a fish meal for all when we return.

Leaving Karumba tomorrow for a trip home.  What a fantastic trip it has been.
